My mum was finally diagnosed with motor neurone disease nearly a year ago. The condition is degenerative and the muscles slowly stop working. My mum is mostly in a wheel chair, she has nearly lost her ability to speak and she can no longer eat many foods (she now has mostly puréed meals). I am running (walking!) the marathon to raise money for the MND association. The local Medway team have been amazing and have given so much support to my Dad who is Mums carer. I also want to raise awareness about this rare condition that completely changes a persons life and as yet has no cure.
